Warehouse Associate - 1st Shift

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the Warehouse Associate is responsible for assisting the Inventory Control Specialist, Material Handler, and Logistics Coordinator processing a variety of shipping, receiving, and inventory related tasks. A Warehouse Associate must be able to work with the goal of keeping the warehouse and production flow organized as well as backing up and assisting the other warehouse positions (noted above) as necessary.  This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and works closely with the production department.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

  1. *Accurately and efficiently process, package and ship orders, and document product flow in the Company's ERP system (currently Syteline)
  2. *Organize stock and maintain inventory based on production needs
  3. *Receive, unload and place incoming inventory items appropriately, with a focus on discrepancies and/or damage
  4. *Assemble shipping containers and/or select pre-assembled containers, and insert items to be shipped into containers, using appropriate spacers, fillers and protective padding
  5. *Routes checked incoming materials, supplies, or equipment to the stockroom, appropriate departments, or other areas
  6. *Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA and other regulations as well as all company safety rules applicable to job activities
  7. Compare identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records
  8. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records and reports shortages and discrepancies and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
  9. Contribute ideas on ways to improve warehousing procedures
  10. Safely operate warehouse equipment such as tier-lift truck, hand held truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work areas
  11. May perform other shipping or receiving activities as needed
  12. *This individual also has responsibility for the safe handling and movement of hazardous materials, including waste, at SAC. More details on this role can be found in the Hazardous Waste Training Plan located in the HSE office
  13. Overtime may be required, based on business needs
  14. Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. No less than four years of relatable experience strongly preferred, especially in a manufacturing setting
  3. Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal instructions and ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations in order to perform duties described above
  4. Ability to meet deadlines and to concentrate and pay attention to detail
  5. Able to complete work with general guidance on work priority
  6. Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with coworkers
  7. Work requires basic understanding of organization and department policies and practices in order to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
  8. Basic understanding of ERP systems
  9. Basic word processing skills required, including MicroSoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  10. Work requires: walking or standing over 50% of the time
  11. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, approximately 20% of a standard work day

Working Conditions

  1. The work is performed in a plant environment. Employee will be exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable
  2. Ear protection must be worn during certain operations, approximately 10% of a standard work day
  3. Eye protection must be worn in manufacturing areas, approximately 90% of a standard work day
