Quality Assurance / Calibration Technician

                             

General Duties

 

The Quality Assurance team primarily works to ensure manufactured products meet/exceed Customer requirements.  This position is an individual contributor role to the team reporting to the Quality Manager.  While the entire team will work to ensure customer needs are met through various validations, final inspection, utilizing ISO, Lean manufacturing and other tools (~70%), this role is the lead for gauging issues (~30%).

 

Duties:

  1. Maintain Calibration of gauges and the Calibration Data base
  2. Review and recommend best metrology methods
  3. Train employees on how to use, read and maintain gauges.
  4. Work with internal process to reduce defects and improve quality and efficiency.
  5. Reporting on the calibration system and conducting various testing specific to the customer’s requirements.
  6. Contribute to the efforts of the quality team to meet the daily goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity.
  7. Contribute to efforts to maintain zero lost time accidents, both in the area and throughout the plant.
  8. Measure, test, or inspect production and keep inspection records as specified by customer and ISO procedures.
  9. Attention to detail is essential.
  10. Other duties as assigned by management.
     
     
    Experience and Requirements:
  • Must be able to read, understand drawings, quality control and safety, and perform normal math calculations easily.
  • Must be familiar and comfortable with inspection gages and equipment to perform dimensional evaluations.
  • Must be able to walk and stand throughout an eight hour shift.
  • Must be able to consistently lift 25 lbs. from floor or table position to chest high using proper lifting technique.
  • Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts.
  • Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination. Must demonstrate good manual dexterity.
  • Must be familiar with Gage Track or similar software.
  • Computer knowledge is preferred, especially working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge in the following areas will be beneficial: assembly, machining, ISO 9001, Lean and/or six sigma, and Root Cause Analysis, Control plans, work instructions, FMEA.
  • Experience in working with a team in a diverse manufacturing environment. Three years’ experience preferred but will consider other applicants.

Effective verbal, written, and mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) are required.
