The Employer has temporarily removed this postingUnder the direct supervision of the Practice Manager and within established policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions:
Processes daily charge tickets for incoming patients and processes provider daily schedule. Greets and registers patients; notifies medical staff of their arrival. Verifies current address and insurance status. Photocopies and inputs patient demographic information, insurance data and all other information. Interacts with patients regarding complaints for effective and immediate response and resolution. Refers to Office Coordinator or Practice Manager as appropriate. Receives incoming telephone calls, either directly or from the switchboard. Takes messages. Uses appropriate company procedures, referring doctors and correct protocols for writing referrals. Schedules referral appointments with specialists, hospital tests and lab work. Supports the discharge of patients from the office. Collects payments and charges the patient at time of service. Uses all ICD-9 and CPT coding to ensure correct charging and posting to patient accounts. Views batch for appropriate CPT and ICD-9 codes, balances the batch and completes batch control tickets. Maintains providers' schedules, optimizing effective scheduling of appointments. Confirms appointments for daily schedule. Interacts and communicates professionally with co-workers, management and patients. Ensures confidentiality of employee, legal, client, budget, and all other company matters.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Two to three years' experience in health care setting performing similar work activities including, but not limited to clerical, billing or insurance processing.
